Strange Matter’s Cavan Scott announced as key creative for Star Wars: The High Republic

Lucasfilm unveiled its Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative on Monday in an exclusive press launch at Disney Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles.

Strange Matter’s Cavan Scott has been one of the initiative’s five story architects since its inception in 2018. The five authors, including Claudia Grey, Justina Ireland, Daniel José Older and Charles Soule, were given a blank slate to create a new era for Star Wars, each pitching a central idea. Cavan’s was chosen, and in subsequent ideation sessions, the writer’s room developed the concept into a shared universe of books and comics.

So far, five High Republic projects have been announced including the monthly comic from Marvel which is being written by Cavan himself.

Strange Matter’s Afoot!

Strange Matter‘s George Mann and Cavan Scott are delighted to announce their forthcoming collaboration with Audible on a brand new Sherlock Holmes drama.

Sherlock Holmes: The Voice of Treason is a full-cast Audible Original starring Nicholas Boulton as the Great Detective and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Dr. John Watson.

Here is the official blurb:

There is a plot to kidnap Queen Victoria and only Sherlock Holmes can stop it…or can he?

Investigating a crime seemingly unconnected to the Royal Family, Holmes and Watson uncover a conspiracy to kidnap Queen Victoria and destabilise the British Empire.

With a ticking clock to her next public engagement, Holmes and Watson must discover who is behind the plot and locate her majesty, while Mycroft tries to keep the monarch’s disappearance a secret from the British people.

At first, Holmes believes Moriarty is responsible for the abduction, but when the Napoleon of Crime is proved innocent, Holmes must work with his arch-nemesis to recuse the Queen.

More details to follow.

Strange Matter’s George Mann visits Galaxy’s Edge

Strange Matter’s George Mann was recently invited to take part in a special event at DisneyWorld’s Galaxy’s Edge, where–aside from signing many, many copies of his book Star Wars: Myths & Fables–he had the chance to wander the streets of Batuu and experience the stunning new Rise of the Resistance ride.

Of course, while he was there, he obviously took the opportunity to craft his own lightsaber, modelled on that of Darth Caldoth, an all new Sith Lord he created for the book.

He also enjoyed a sample of the famous blue milk.

Check out the video below, created by the wonderful folk at the Disney Parks Blog, to see him talk about the forthcoming special edition of the book and experience Batuu for the very first time.
